AVON – The Riverfront Club at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain will host a ChiRunning Workshop on May 21-22.ChiRunning, the revolutionary running technique that combines Tai Chi with the power and energy of running, will be led by certified instructor Mary Lindahl. ChiRunning takes the pounding, pain and potential damage out of the sport and makes running, safe, efficient and truly enjoyable, according to Lindahl.The workshops will cover a variety of aspects of ChiRunning, including:• The keys to effortless, injury-free running.• How to let gravity do the work.•Posture, lean and lift.• Effective arm swing.•Gears and stride length and your optimal cadence.•How to rotate your hips to reduce the impact of the road.• Drills to improve form and techniques for hills.•Pre-run body looseners and post-run stretches.The workshop takes place over two four-hour sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 21-22. The workshop fee, which includes Video Gait Analysis, is $250 for the public and $185 for Riverfront Club members. The Saturday session can be purchased for $150 for the public, $125 for members.
