Eagle River Fund informational event invites community support
Approximately 45 community members came together on March 20 to learn about the Eagle River Fund’s vision of providing permanent leverage funding for river projects. The gathering, hosted by Tom and Margie Gart, featured a presentation with speakers from The Nature Conservancy, the Eagle River Coalition, Staunton Golding (Eagle River Fund board chair), Melanie Smith (Eagle River Fund Manager) and Tom and Margie Gart.
The Eagle River Fund is a funding source for projects in the Eagle River Watershed. Groups (such as the Eagle River Coalition, Trout Unlimited, Eagle County Conservation District and others), as well as municipalities and governments, can submit funding requests for project support. It is intended to release approximately $200,000 annually to provide gap or match funding and leverage other funds, increase capacity for collaboration and extend the size and scope of water projects
To close the evening, Margie Gart shared about opportunities to support the Eagle River Fund in its goal of raising $5 million. These include sharing about the effort with friends and neighbors and seeking gifts of all levels. As a community-driven initiative intended to aid in the protection of the Eagle River for generations, gifts of any size are encouraged and welcome.
