Early Friday morning Chris Lorenzo concert a first for Vail Mountain

Get ready to groove to some tunes at 8 a.m. versus 8 p.m. this Friday. Vail Mountain just announced that it is hosting its first-ever sunrise concert on top of the ski resort with a concert by EDM star DJ Chris Lorenzo. Under the iconic Vail Back Bowls sign, Lorenzo will be performing not on a stage, but on a snow cat for the entire set. The dramatic setting is located at 11,250 feet above sea level near Northwoods Express (No. 11), High Noon Express (No. 5) and Mountaintop Express (No. 4).  

Vail Mountain started hosting outdoor concerts on the rooftop of Eagle’s Nest in years past. John Summit, Sofi Tukker and Dillon Francis have drawn in the crowds during these free shows. The views from Eagle’s Nest lend a beautiful setting and people can easily access these shows via the Eagle Bahn Gondola (No. 19), so you don’t even need to ski or snowboard to the show.

Friday’s concert will be different in that it will only be accessed by skiing or snowboarding to this makeshift stage. This is truly a one-of-a-kind event and exclusive to those committed to music and the mountains.

Christopher Lawrence, who goes by the name Chris Lorenzo, is a British house music DJ and producer. He’s played venues all over the world from Coachella to Ibiza and is coming to Vail for the morning concert and will play at Chasing Rabbits on Friday night before heading to Mission Ballroom in Denver on Saturday and the Belly Up in Aspen next week.  

The music will run from 8 – 9:30 a.m. and guests must load Gondola One (No. 1) at 7:30 a.m. There won’t be lift access after 7:45 a.m., so don’t be late. The event is free to the public and 300 wristbands will be handed out the day before on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, go to Vail.com or follow Vail’s social media channels.
