Easter Happenings
An Easter tradition that’s been going on for over 30 years is the Vail Mountain Easter Sunrise Service bright and early on Easter Sunday. This takes place in a very special location on the top of Vail Mountain at Eagle’s Nest, with views of the Gore Range and Mount of the Holy Cross. The Eagle Bahn Gondola (No. 19) will fire up at 6 a.m. for complimentary rides to foot passengers only (no skis or snowboards). The guests will then go up to the Marketplace Restaurant at the top level of the gondola building for a non-denominational service that will go from 6:30-7:30 a.m.
There are many other congregations hosting services on Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Many chapels house several different congregations. View the websites for schedules and more. This is just a partial list:

Easter Egg Hunts
Vail Village

The Vail Recreation District is once again hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. This isn’t your typical egg hunt, this is a scavenger hunt where one clue will lead to the next. Head to the Vail Recreation District booth next to the Covered Bridge in Vail Village between 10 and 10:45 a.m. on Saturday to get your Easter Egg Hunt passport which is filled with clues. From there, you will follow the clues throughout Vail Village, complete your passport and find your way to the last destination where prizes will be awarded. There will be some special eggs hidden along the route in Vail Village, so grab them as those eggs can be redeemed for egg-stra special prizes. The Easter Bunny will be there as well for photo opportunities, so come out for a morning of fun during this annual tradition. This event happens rain or shine. Learn more by visiting vailrec.com.
Avon

Support Local Journalism

Let your kids roam through the vast Harry A. Nottingham Park in Avon to seek out eggs at the town’s annual Egg Hunt Extravaganza. The fun gets underway at 10 a.m. and goes until noon on Saturday. Over 10,000 eggs packed with prizes and candy will be available for the ultimate challenge.
To keep things fair, the egg hunt is organized by age groups, ensuring a more enjoyable experience for children aged nine and under. Each age group will have two hunt sessions. The town of Avon is calling the egg hunt arena a bully-free zone, and families are asked to be respectful to one another.
Kids 9 years old and under are invited to search for eggs and prizes and are broken down into various age groups. In addition to egg hunting there will be a visit from the Easter Bunny, a jellybean guessing game, a petting zoo, face painting, arts and crafts and inflatable bouncy features for kids ages 3 and under.
The coloring contest returns for 2026. Contest sheets can be downloaded in advance or clipped from the Vail Daily on Friday, April 3 in Spanish & April 4 in English, and turned in at the Avon tent during the event. Winners will be selected by age group, and winning artwork will be displayed at the Avon Recreation Center throughout the month of April.
As part of Avon’s sustainability efforts, families are asked to return plastic eggs to the on-site egg recycling stations following the hunt. Bring your own basket or other mode of collection for the eggs. Although free parking is available the use of public transit is encouraged, as well as walking or riding a bike to the park.
