Some people call this pumpkin spice latte season, but some also call it wings season. After all, what goes better with football?

The new Crazy Chicken in Minturn has you covered, along with your team on the screen. The new spot on Main Street in Minturn just opened a few weeks ago and after perfecting the menu and getting most of their 20 TVs installed, they are ready to become your new go-to for all things wings.

Here, you choose your sauces first. They have the classics like the house buffalo sauce, KC barbecue, or maybe you want to go for a more exotic Thai or Teriyaki flavor. Mix and match with garlic buffalo or garlic parmesan or go dry with cajun or lemon poppy seasoning.

Once you’ve selected your sauces, time to dial in the heat level. The Crazy Chicken offers mild, medium, hot and LOCO temperature levels.

Lastly, how many do you want? How many do you need? Come in solo and grab an order of five or bring a huge group and order 110 wings. Nobody is going hungry here.

The Crazy Chicken is the brainchild of Kyle Fowler, a Kansas City, Mo. native who has worked as a bartender, cook, food runner – pretty much all the positions at restaurants – in the Vail Valley for years and was excited when this opportunity came about.

The Crazy Chicken is open daily from noon to 9 p.m. and is located at 455 Main Street in Minturn.

“I love this location, I love the crowd, the atmosphere and I love Minturn,” Fowler said.

But, wings aren’t the only thing on the menu. Chicken is showcased in a couple of different ways.

“The chicken sandwiches are probably what I’m most proud of. There’s a lot of creativity and it is something that I would want to eat. You can get the chicken fried or grilled and there’s a bunch of different options, you can get it however you want,” Fowler said.

The namesake Crazy Chicken sandwich comes with garlic aioli, choice of cheese and – wait for it – it’s tossed in your favorite wings sauce, or can have it dry. There’s a cordon bleu option with extra bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and garlic aioli or the chicken parm sandwich with marinara, provolone and Parmesan cheese. The Crazy Boat sandwich features bacon jam and white gravy and The Boot sandwich is served with creamy pesto, roasted red peppers and provolone.

Hungry yet? Wait, there’s more. Smash burgers (single and double patty) as well as a vegetarian black bean burger are on the menu, too. Save room for appetizers, everything from cheese curds, Brussels sprouts, fried zucchini sticks, fried pickle chips and more will get your group started.

A kid’s menu, called Chiclets, gives the younger set the choice of corn dog bites, chicken tenders and of course wings. Dessert is a must, too, once you realize there are fried Twinkies on the menu served with strawberries and ice cream.

Sierra Delgado, who manages the front of the house for The Crazy Chicken, says the best accompaniment to what’s on the menu is a cold, draft beer.

“We have a great selection of draft beer and we are rotating craft breweries and a lot of local beers which are flying off the shelves,” Delgado said.

The word has spread in Minturn and beyond that The Crazy Chicken is open and Fowler couldn’t be happier with the results.

“We’ve had a full house and a lot of repeat customers, and I think that people are thrilled that we are back open and have the bar back open and functioning especially in time for football season,” Fowler said.

“We all really want to see Kyle succeed and we want to see this place succeed. A lot of us are big fans of Minturn and this is a historical part of Minturn and just to be able to come into the ambiance and have this restaurant and bar back open again, I think it’s really awesome for this valley,” Delgado said.
