New Maverik station opens in Avon, with grand opening celebration set for Sept. 15

The new Maverik gas station opened on Avon’s Wagon Trail Road on Wednesday, with its in-house restaurant opening on Thursday.
A grand opening has been set for Sept. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Operations Manager Cain Montes said while the company had advertised a grand opening for Sept. 7, Maverik had to push that back to Sept. 15 due to unforeseen circumstances.
Montes said he’s hoping to have booths set up from vendors including Pepsi, Coke, Frito Lay, and the Colorado Lottery. Maverik will be running its own promotions as well, Montes said.

“You’ll be able to try Maverik’s food, we have freshly made pizza that’s not frozen, our kitchen is all fresh food,” he said. “You can come and watch us make burritos, we make our sandwiches fresh, it’s a real kitchen.”

Montes said Star Hopkins, the kitchen manager, and himself were brought in from Maverik as managers, and they’re currently hiring more staff.
While Maverik, in August, completed an acquisition of Kum & Go gas stations, locals shouldn’t expect to see any more Maveriks in Eagle County any time soon, Montes said. If any rebranding is to occur, it has not yet begun, he said.

Montes said Maverik, with its in-house food and newly developed location, is attempting to fill a niche in the valley that wasn’t being filled.
“It’s definitely something, I feel, that the community needed,” he said.
The station offers free electric car charging at its electric charging station, which has two connections. There are 12 fuel pump spaces.

The 4,425-square-foot building was originally approved in 2021 and is part of the larger Village at Avon project in East Avon.
The Village at Avon area in East Avon began to see development in the early 2000s with the Traer Creek shopping complex, the Walmart and Home Depot buildings, and the Buffalo Ridge apartments.
