plata jewelry News News | Jan 18, 2014 PLATA Jewelers was founded more than a quarter century ago in Vail by Nena Martin. Early on her daughters, Sophia and Cecilia, realized they had inherited the passion for creating jewelry and quickly joined their mother in designing. Together, they create unique pieces combined to reflect each of their individual organic styles. Keeping the level of production small creating each individual piece by hand ensures that the quality of work surpasses that of any mass-produced design. PLATA, meaning âsilverâ in Spanish, is a collection of asymmetrical, handcrafted pieces embellished with natural gemstones and fresh water pearls all intricately woven together with gold vermeil, gold fill and sterling silver. Every piece is inspired by the colors in nature and contemporary art.
