Portions of Sun Up and Sun Down Bowls are now available to skiers and snowboarders on Vail Mountain, with Chairs 5 and 17 opening for the season on Sunday.
In Sun Down Bowl, the runs Seldom, Never, Widge’s, Ptarmigan Ridge, Ricky’s Ridge and Ricky’s Tube are all open, with the Sun Down Catwalk servicing those runs.
In Sun Up Bowl, the Yonder area and portions of the Yonder trees, along with Milts Face and the Slot, are now open.

Often the first to open for the season, Sun Up and Sun Down Bowls opened later than usual this year and followed China Bowl and portions of Tea Cup Bowl, which opened Feb. 5.
Prior to this season, another late year for the opening of Sun Down Bowl was 1977, when the first mention of the Back Bowls being open in the Vail Trail newspaper came on Feb. 25.
