May is Better Hearing Month, and Rocky Mountain Audiology is marking the annual observance by reminding residents across the Western Slope and in the Eagle River Valley that hearing health is an essential part of overall wellness.
As a fulltime, locally owned and staffed audiology clinic, Rocky Mountain Audiology has long been committed to serving mountain communities with trusted, evidence-based care, with offices in Edwards and Glenwood Springs.
The Rocky Mountain Audiology team is led by Board Certified Doctors of Audiology Dr. Daria Stakiw and Dr. Emily Sanders, providing the highest level of expertise to patients of all ages.
Throughout the month of May, Rocky Mountain Audiology invites its neighbors throughout the Eagle River and Roaring Fork River valleys, as well as the surrounding areas, to take a moment to learn how closely hearing health is connected to long-term cognitive and emotional wellbeing.
Hearing loss is far more than a simple inconvenience or a normal part of aging. Research shows that untreated hearing loss can increase cognitive strain, contribute to social withdrawal, and elevate the risk of dementia over time. When the brain must work harder to interpret unclear sound signals, other cognitive functions — such as memory and processing — can become overburdened.

The encouraging news is that early identification and treatment of hearing changes can make a meaningful difference. Addressing hearing loss supports clearer communication, stronger social
engagement, and healthier brain function.
Many adults don’t realize how gradually hearing can change, which is why routine evaluations are so important. Rocky Mountain Audiology encourages adults — especially those over age 50 — to stay proactive and informed.
A comprehensive hearing evaluation offers insight into both auditory and cognitive wellness and
helps people understand the full range of options available if changes are detected.
As a fulltime local hearing care clinic, Rocky Mountain Audiology is here every day to support the long-term health of area residents, answer questions, and guide people through personalized solutions that fit their lifestyle.
This Better Hearing Month, Rocky Mountain Audiology encourages people to prioritize their hearing and stay connected to the sounds, conversations, and people who matter most.
