EDWARDS — On Friday night, Dogma Athletica will host the Share the Love yoga practice to benefit four high school students traveling to Nepal with the Children’s Global Alliance. In June, A.J. Davies, Nicole Lasater, Ava Maslanand and Kevin Nichols will embark on their journey to Bhaktapur, Nepal, about 45 minutes from Kathmandu. There, the Vail teens will assist the at the Deeya Shree school, which is responsible for 140 students, mostly from neighboring slum areas.
The school has only the very basic necessities. They are without electricity and classroom walls. These challenges and many more await the Vail students, who will teach in the school, repair the building, do home visits in the slums and deliver food, medication and clothing to those in need. Each of the four students is responsible for raising $2,500 to cover the cost of their airline ticket.
Special yoga class offered
Dogma Athletica wants to help these students reach their fundraising goal. Dogma Athletica owner Rod Connolly will co-teach a special yoga practice alongside Dogma’s director Elena Georgouses on Friday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All proceeds from the class go to Children’s Global Alliance to help fund the purchase of plane tickets. The class is $25 per person. Immediately following the class, there will be a celebration to share good company and some wine.
Dogma Athletica is also offering babysitting services during this special class. The requested donation for this is $5 per child. Dogma Athletica is located in The Riverwalk at Edwards. If you have questions, then call Dogma’s front desk at 970-688-4433.
