The Runaway Grooms are happy to be home for the holidays and will celebrate not only their fans while here, but also a new film they’ve been working on. Get ready to view “Ride” featuring the music and lifestyle of The Runaway Grooms.

“We have always been into creating short films and funny bits but also wanted to make a full-on movie. We decided it would be exciting to make a film that captures our love for skiing as well as our love for music,” said Adam Tobin of The Runway Grooms. “We think the marriage of those two pursuits are truly something to be celebrated as staples in mountain culture.”

“‘Ride’ is a rock doc/ski film that captures not only a day in the life of The Runaway Grooms on ski tour, but also more significantly captures the phantasmagorical winter mountain experience that is unique to ski culture in mountain towns,” Tobin said. “There are a lot of incredible ski films that capture an insane amount of talent and athleticism by winter sport athletes, but this movie feels more relatable to the common skier or snowboarder who is just out there having a good time.”

The Runaway Grooms is comprised of Tobin on guitar, Birch Stuart on guitar, Justin Bisset on drums, Brett Scott on bass and Cody Scott on keyboard. Brett and Cody are brothers, but the family ties don’t end there. It was quite a family affair for The Runaway Grooms to put together all the elements for “Ride.”

“Brett Scott is also the owner of Altitude AV and he was the sound engineer for all of the music in the film which was recorded live on ski tour,” Tobin said. “Kyle Braun is a videographer out of Kansas City and is our drummer, Justin’s, soon to be brother-in-law. Other than the VHS footage taken by various people during ski tour, Kyle was our sole videographer. He was an absolute trooper, holding the 50-pound camera for two hours during our live shows and strapping up skis for the first time ever to ski up places like Vail Pass.”

Adam Tobin’s brother, Luke Tobin, is a film editor in Los Angeles and edited the entire film.

“It’s totally been a family affair and we’re really proud to be able to produce something all in house and with such talent and attention to detail. Furthermore, we’ve been blessed with the generous support of flagship sponsor Eagle River Brewing Company, Weston Backcountry and Altitude AV through their services and are happy to also feature local mentions of Red Canyon Cafe and Copy Copy Avon in the film,” Tobin said. Eagle River Brewing Company is even releasing a new lager called “Ride” in honor of the movie.

The Runaway Grooms formed in 2017 solely for the sake of having some fun and exploring the depths of each musicians’ musical curiosities.

“I think initially there wasn’t even really an intention of playing for other people. But then once we started sharing it with people, that encouraged us to keep digging deeper,” Tobin said. “As a result, the music evolved and got bigger and more dynamic and soon enough three members turned into five. I never thought it would take us around the world and now I think we’re just grateful that it’s still something we enjoy doing and that we still have complete creative control over every aspect of what we do.”

The Runaway Grooms recently completed a film called ‘Ride’ showcasing their love of skiing and performing music. Much of the film was captured by cameraman, Kyle Braun, center, in this photo taken at Sylvan Lake south of Eagle.

“We’re genuinely so excited for this little local run. It’s that time of year when we just crave being close to the ones we love and although this film is fun it also pulls at the heart strings a little and we’re just so grateful for all the support from the local community,” Tobin said. “Every step of the way we’ve felt encouraged to continue to grow dig deeper. So, it always feels good to give our fans something new to enjoy.”

What’s next for The Runaway Grooms?

“We’re currently sitting on enough material for at least another full studio album. But we’re going to take our time putting this one together,” Tobin said. “And then after that, probably make another ski movie: ‘Ride 2.0.'”
