The 10th Mountain Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is seeking support for National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 13. Each year, there is a local effort to ensure that the 325 service members buried at the Eagle, Gypsum and Minturn cemeteries are honored with the placement of live, balsam veterans’ wreaths.

This year, the ceremonies will be held across the country at more than 5,200 participating locations. In Eagle County, wreaths will be placed at grave sites at Cedar Hill Memorial Cemetery in Gypsum, the Minturn Riverview Cemetery in Minturn, and Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle.

National Wreaths Across America Day is a free community event open to all people that is part of a yearlong mission to remember, honor and teach. If you would like to sponsor a wreath or sign up to place wreaths, please visit WreathsAcrossAmerica.org/CO0199P.

Wreaths Across America started as a simple gesture of thanks that has grown into a national, yearlong movement of dedicated volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation’s fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the value of freedom. This year, more than three million volunteers will come together.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, which was founded in 1890 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children. The 10th Mountain Chapter was founded in the Vail Valley in 2018.
