2nd murder-for-hire trial in Colo. continues

GOLDEN, Colo. – Opening statements are possible Wednesday in a trial for a woman accused of trying to arrange the slaying of her husband to gain full custody of their daughter.

A trial for 36-year-old Elinor Dvir of Denver ended in a hung jury in March when jurors failed to reach a verdict. She’s accused of trying to arrange the slaying of Richard Nedlin, a deputy district attorney for Pitkin County.

Dvir is charged with solicitation of first-degree murder and other counts. Prosecutors say she tried to hire an undercover police officer posing as a hit man to kill Nedlin in his Aspen home.

The trial was in Jefferson County, where the alleged attempt to hire a hit man was made.

Jury selection began Tuesday.
