Gypsum to vote for new town council, mayoral candidates on Tuesday

John LaConte/Vail Daily
Residents of Gypsum are set to head to the polls on Tuesday for the town’s municipal election, which will determine a new mayor and fill three town council seats. All positions on the ballot carry four-year terms.
Voting will take place in person from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gypsum Council Chambers inside Town Hall, located at 50 Lundgren Blvd.
This year’s election marks a significant transition in local leadership. Mayor Steve Carver has announced his retirement after more than three decades of service to the community. Council member Bill Baxter also concluded his tenure in January. Both leaders have been credited with helping guide Gypsum through years of growth, community projects and civic development.
In addition to Baxter, council members Marisa Sato and Scott Green currently hold seats that are up for election. Green is running for mayor and Sato is running for re-election.
Candidates for mayor include Green, Eileen Duke and Tina Medina. The six candidates for the three for Town Council seats include Mitchell Charles Plath, Jay Oyler, Cicero Da Silva, Marisa Sato, Adam Trujillo and Ismenia Interiano.

Following the meeting, the town council will swear in new members and Carver will step down at the Town Council’s next regular meeting on April 14.
