BEAVER CREEK Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is getting a $20 million hotel improvement that expands Allegria Spa into one of the largest spas in the United States.Construction began in May in the hotels public areas, meeting facilities and guest accommodations. The hotel is adding air-conditioning in the 190 guest rooms and the 15 existing condominiums. Fifteen fractional ownership units will be added, as well.Plans call for the Allegria to be two stories tall, almost doubling in size to 30,000-square feet. That will cost $12 million, said Park Hyatt Beaver Creek general manager Scott Mason.Improvements continue in the lobby, featuring a more open plan that levels the floor of Antler Hall (lobby lounge). The walls that previously sectioned off the library are being removed.

LAS VEGAS The MAGIC fashion show in Las Vegas, held twice a year in February and March, is the largest mens fashion show in the world. The five-day event hosted more than 100,000 people, including Raymond and Faith Bleesz of Brush Creek Dry Goods in Edwards. The show accounts for $114 billion annually in total apparel business.The Bleeszs have been going to MAGIC since 1999 when they opened their specialty boutique, Brush Creek Dry Goods, in the Edwards Riverwalk Center. They offer boutique clothing for both men and women.The MAGIC fashion organization selected the Bleesz couple as members of the MAGIC Presidents Club, providing VIP service to the Edwards retailers.The most recent issue of Show & Tell fashion magazine pictured on the Bleeszs on its back cover.

VAIL Over the past several months, several representatives from the Vail Valley/Eagle County community have been working with Pace Communications, publishers of Uniteds in-flight magazine, Hemispheres, to create an editorial section more than 24 pages long in the magazine. The section will be titled Insight: Vail/Beaver Creek.The package will be a comprehensive look at the year-round community that is the lifeblood of Vail and Beaver Creek. It will spotlight the business climate, education and healthcare resources, groups and meetings opportunities, and economic and quality of life issues.Writers will be living in the community for six weeks in May and June, seeking input to tell the story.



GYPSUM The Christie Lodge in Avon, the Vail Valley Charitable Fund and Grand Timber Lodge in Breckenridge are hosting the annual Christel House Open golf tournament at the Cotton Ranch golf club.The Christel House Open is one of more than two dozen charity golf tournaments being played around the world on the same day, spanning six continents and 20 time zones. This years tournament will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, as well as global charities.The event opens 7-11 p.m. Sunday, June 11 with Casino Night at The Christie Lodge. Registration for the golf tournament follows at 10:30 a.m. the next day at Cotton Ranch. It ends with an awards reception and dinner.Various sponsorship levels are available and organizers are seeking silent auction donations.
