Favorite moment or memory from any school year: My favorite moment was picking up all the new international students at the start of my junior year to introduce them to our local and school communities. I’m currently taking Mandarin classes and because my international buddy, Tony, is from China, I was able to practice with him in his native language.
Summer Plans: Work on internship with JJR Consulting for the Colorado Cup 2016 in July; continue working on a new media app with Dylan Cunningham; visit France to attend the Euro Cup 2016; model for SM Entertainment in South Korea; volunteer locally at Habitat for Humanity after these events
Where are you headed this fall: Union College in New York, hopefully working on a double major of computer science and economics.
What will you miss most about Eagle County: I’ve lived in Eagle since I was very young (originally from France) and only recently moved to Edwards this year. I will definitely miss the community event, be they athletic or recreational, and the general friendliness of the valley. Plus, who could forget our ski resorts?
In 10 years, you’ll be: Developing the next big app in Silicon Valley, or working with technology-based businesses in Seattle to work towards sustainable environmental tech to allow future generations to enjoy the world just as we do today, if not more!
Favorite class you took: Any class I have taken with my science teacher, Mr. Sappenfield, has not only been extremely insightful, but also really engaging. Even after class, I can have great conversations with him ranging from the progress of genetic manipulation in the CRISPR progra, to how our eye lens can regenerate with the help of stem cells post-cataract surgery. It’s great stuff.
Anything Else: I’m going to miss the VMS K-12 community so so much and thank you to everyone who has supported me through my high school journey both in and outside of the classroom.
