It’s the Fourth of July and although red, white and blue hues are a given, you can individualize your look in a variety of ways. From various fabrics, layering trends to accessories, show your independent flair this Independence Day.

Although this holiday is more on the casual side with jeans and t-shirts perfectly acceptable attire, sun dresses, silk scarves and navy sport jackets can be found depending on the venue. If you are heading out for the duration of the day, pay mind to the changing conditions found in the Colorado Rockies. Mornings can be cool before the sun gets high in the sky, so if breakfast or brunch is on the agenda before the Vail America Days starts at 10 a.m., be prepared with a light jacket that can be stored away in a tote during the parade, which can be a toasty experience if you did not get a spot in the shade. Also, be prepared for an afternoon rain shower. A water-resistant layer is a good option. Once the sun goes down and the fireworks light up the sky, the temperatures will drop, so a sweater will be a nice and comfortable way to stay warm.

We checked with a few area retailers to find out what’s in for July 4.

Roach would know, she and her staff and friends and fans of the brand have participated in the Vail America Days parade for 11 years.

“Every year, my Skipper & Scout team and our clients rock the parade,” Roach said.

A few looks Roach likes this summer are from Buckaroo Brims, locally made hats that are so popular now for all ages and can be personalized with customizable details.

“I just love pairing a Buckaroo Brims hat with a floral tube top and maxi skirt from Katie J NYC. Then, you always need a jacket, and our denim jacket is custom made for us by Petite Hailey of Los Angeles,” Roach said.

With Skipper & Scout carrying all kinds of brands from LoveShackFancy and Free People to Aviator Nation you’re sure to find something for July 4.

“The mix of gingham, stripes and texture is so fun and festive for July Fourth. We have the adorable light blue and white gingham skort from Buttermelon that has cute, flirty layers made practical with shorts underneath. We paired that with our festive American flag tee from Cloud Ten, said Kailey Gorbold, owner of Wild Heart.

“Jeans are also a good option, especially if you are going out at night. We’ve paired the Just Black Denim pinstripe crop flare jeans with a textured Buttermelon top in red. This top ties on the side for a playful and adjustable style. Both looks are equally cute and practical for all ages,” Gorbold said.

Antlers and Rosé just moved from Eagle to Riverwalk and re-opened just this week to offer fabulous fashions for the festive holiday.

“Celebrate the Fourth in timeless Antlers and Rosé style—denim on denim, crisp whites with a hint of red, and signature touches of the West like boots, bandanas and wide-brim hats,” said Brooke Richards, owner of Antlers and Rosé.

Antlers and Rosé carries the denim brand Dala, from Paraguay. Vests are so in this season, so try the classic blue colored denim zip up vest and pair it with Dala’s Sling jean vintage in cropped length. Complete the look with an equestrian scarf from Kits Santa Fe, a Stella Rhodes hat out of Franklin, Tennessee, which can be decorated with different accessories and a cute purse in silver metallic from Lemiz.

“This look would be perfect for an afternoon at Beano’s Cabin’s July Fourth barbecue or watching fireworks light up the mountain,” Richards said. “Celebrate in Antlers and Rosé style—classic, confident and unapologetically American.”
